UHTOMIK (“Atomic”, spelled phonetically) is a 1956 Ford F-100 pick-up that was previously owned and operated by the Atomic Energy Commission. It was sold in a public auction in the early 1970’s, and the new owner began the process of restoration. They didn’t get far. Fully disassembled, the project was abandoned and left on a farm to rust for 42 years.
Fast forward to today… The truck has been rescued from the farm and is back on track to become a running vehicle, though the approach to the build is very different. Rather than “restoring” the truck with body filler and paint, we decided to retain the look of rust and patina as much as possible and focus the build on performance.
The name UHTOMIK is a nod to it’s previous life but also an unapologetic celebration of it’s ruffian appearance and newfound power & performance.
